If you were taking notes back in May this year, we posted about a special exclusive that dropped at the Thailand Toy Expo. The Ugly Ducky by Jason Freeny x Mighty Jaxx. Needless to say, The Toy Chronicle couldn’t get enough of these delectable, dissected Ugly Ducky’s, and had to make the purchase. The Ugly Ducky arrived at our doorstep this past week, and we thought you’d enjoy our thoughts. So lets get right to it….

To be fair to the Ugly Ducky, there is nothing ugly about these. They are in fact quite the opposite. Made from ABS Plastic, Ugly Duck is around 4inch in length and it comes with several pieces – although it should be noted that no assembly is required with Ugly Ducky. Ducky comes in it’s own blister pack, ready for display. The clear side of Ugly Ducky shows the Freeny dissected innards, crafted to all slot in place beautifully.

You may recall the original dissected Bathing Ducky by Freeny & Mighty Jaxx, which we covered HERE. Whereas the previous incarnations were bright & colourful, the Ugly Ducky is a more sombre release and our early-teen goth feelings are once again brought to the forefront of our minds. The matt-black side (with glossy black beak no less) is highlighted by a single painted white cross. This really drew our attention when we first caught a glimpse of this release.

Overall, we really love this Ugly Ducky release. It’s perfectly formed to sit well in any collection. The finish is fantastic.
